1. How does Dr. Yasmin helps a child who is scared or has had a bad dental experience before?
We start slowly, at the child’s pace. We use gentle behavior management techniques so the chair does not feel frightening. When it helps, Dr. Yasmin also uses nitrous oxide (laughing gas) in addition to cognitive-based hypnodontics. This helps manage behavior in the chair, and helps with comfort and anxiety during the visit.
2. What age would recommend me my child to see a pediatric dentist?
Children age one year, or those who have had their first tooth, should book their first appointment with a good pediatric dentist Dubai. Having children checked at an early age helps ensure children get proper oral hygiene, watch their teeth development, and helps manage problems before they occur.
3. Can you treat a child with autism or other special needs?
Yes, Dr. Yasmin is an IBCCES Certified Autism Specialist, and uses evidence-based ABA-informed approaches that are adapted to the child. Many of our patients who are on the spectrum, whether they are verbal or non verbal, can typically complete their dental care right there in the chair.
4. My child needs several fillings - can it be done without general anaesthesia?
Yes, we are fortunate to have the ability to complete many dental fillings and even dental extractions in children completely awake— and general anaesthesia is reserved only for cases that genuinely require it.
5. What is Myobrace / Airway dentistry, and how do I know if my child needs it?
Myobrace and Airway Focused dentistry utilize different methods to aid in growth of the Jaw, as well as positively affecting bad oral habits, such as breasting through the mouth, which may all help avoid the need for orthodontic treatment in the future. Signs to watch for include mouth-breathing, snoring, crowded teeth or tongue-thrusting — a consultation can tell you if it’s right for your child.
6. Is sedation or general anaesthesia safe for young children?
Both nitrous oxide and general anesthesia are safe when used by professionals. We also practice the least invasive treatment method first. Dr. Yasmin discusses the benefits, risks and alternatives fully with you before any decision is made.
7. What are your consultation and treatment costs, and do you offer a first consultation?
Yes, we offer consultations for new patients. During your child’s first consultation, we assess your child’s oral health, address your concerns and provide treatment, if necessary, and provide a treatment plan. Costs vary based on your child’s needs and all costs are provided in advance.
8. Where is the clinic located and how do we book an appointment?
Dr. Yasmin Kottait’s pediatric dental clinic is at the American Medical & Dental Center, Building 64 – 1002 – Umm Hurair Rd – Umm Hurair Second – Dubai Healthcare City – Dubai. You can book by calling or WhatsApp on 050 578 7664, or through the website.
